Yahoo Finance COVID-19: Singapore detects 10 new cases, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed the detection of 10 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Sunday (4 April), taking the country's total case count to 60,478.
All the cases are imported and were placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) since their arrival in Singapore, said MOH in a news release. There are no new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection.
Amongst the new cases today, eight are asymptomatic while two were symptomatic.
Two are student's pass holders who arrived from India and the US; seven are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India and Malaysia, of whom two are foreign domestic workers; and one is a special pass holder who is a sea crew. The latter arrived from Malaysia on a vessel, and was tested onboard without disembarking.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at two cases per week in the past two weeks. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also remained stable at two cases per week in the past two weeks.
99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With 17 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 60,202 cases – or 99.5 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 40 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one of them is in the intensive care unit.
A total of 206 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from the 30 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
Among the 178 confirmed cases reported from 29 March to 4 April, 63 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 86 have tested negative, and 29 serology test results are pending.
