Yahoo Finance COVID-19: Singapore detects 13 new cases, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the detection of 13 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Sunday (7 March), taking the country's total case count to 60,033.
All the cases are imported and have been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) since their arrival in Singapore, said the ministry in a news release. There are no new cases of locally transmitted infections.
Among the 13 imported cases:
One is a student's pass holder who arrived from Sri Lanka.
10 are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines, of whom seven are foreign domestic workers.
Two are short-term visit pass holders. One case arrived from Bangladesh with his parent who works in Singapore, and the other arrived from Sri Lanka to visit her child who is studying here.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at four cases per week in the past two weeks. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from two cases in the week before to three cases in the past week.
99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With 15 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 59,894 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 24 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, with one of them in the intensive care unit.
A total of 86 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
Among the 97 confirmed cases reported from 1-7 March, 54 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 31 have tested negative, and 12 serology test results are pending.
