SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 18 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Tuesday (24 November), taking the country’s total case count to 58,183.

The ministry also announced that there are no active COVID-19 clusters for the first time since 3 February.

All 18 cases on Tuesday are imported. For the 14th straight day, there are no new cases of locally-transmitted infections.

“Amongst the new cases today, 15 are asymptomatic and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while three were symptomatic,” said the MOH.

Two are Singaporeans who returned from the Netherlands and Indonesia while 14 are work-pass holders who are currently employed in Singapore, including 13 foreign domestic workers.

Of the 14 work-pass holders, one arrived from Pakistan, and the remaining 13 – all foreign domestic workers – arrived from India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.

The remaining cases are a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from Pakistan, and a short-term visit pass holder who arrived from the Philippines to board a ship docked here as a crew member.

All 18 cases had been placed on the stay-home-notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice, said the MOH.

The ministry also announced the closure of the cluster at foreign worker dormitory Cassia @ Penjuru – located at 15 Penjuru Walk – as there have been no cases linked to it for the past two incubation periods or 28 days.

99% of total cases have recovered; 1 in ICU

With eight more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Tuesday, 58,079 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 37 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 39 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
