Yahoo Finance COVID-19: Singapore confirms 22 new cases, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 22 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Thursday (4 February), taking the country’s total case count to 59,624.
All 22 new cases are imported. “Amongst the new cases today, 19 are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while three were symptomatic,” said the MOH.
Amongst them, three are Singaporeans and two are permanent residents who returned from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Two others are dependant’s pass holders – including an 18-year-old male teenager who arrived from Germany and Japan, while four cases are work pass holders who arrived from Indonesia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
Eight of them are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom six are foreign domestic workers.
The remaining three cases are short-term visit pass holders who arrived from Indonesia, including one who came here for a job placement. Two of them came here to visit their family members who are Singaporeans or PRs.
All of them were placed on the stay-home notice or isolated upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice or during isolation.

Separately, the ministry added that a case who was reported as a community infection on Wednesday has been reclassified as an imported case after she tested positive on her serological test.
The results indicate that the 35-year-old female Indian national and a long-term visit pass holder is likely to have suffered from a past COVID-19 infection.
“Given her serology status and recent travel history to India from 30 November 2020 to 6 January 2021, we have re-classified this case as imported,” said the MOH.
The ministry also noted that the number of new cases in the community has increased from one in the week before to three in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from none in the week before to two in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered
With 28 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Thursday, 59,348 cases – or 99.5 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 38 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, and none in the intensive care unit.
A total of 209 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
Amongst the 199 confirmed cases reported from 29 January to 4 February, 112 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 35 have tested negative, and 52 serology test results are pending.
