Yahoo Finance COVID-19: Singapore confirms 9 new cases, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore on Saturday (13 February), taking the country’s total case count to 59,786.
There are no new cases of locally-transmitted infection.
The nine cases are all imported and had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore. All are asymptomatic, and were detected via proactive screening and surveillance.
Eight are foreign domestic workers who arrived from India, Indonesia and Myanmar, while one is a work pass holder who arrived from Russia.
Overall, said MOH, the number of new cases in the community has increased from one case in the week before to eight cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from one in the week before to five in the past week.
Amongst the 111 confirmed cases reported from 7 to 13 February, 52 tested positive for their serology tests, 30 tested negative, and 29 serology test results are pending.
99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With 35 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Saturday, 59,604 cases – or 99.6 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 34 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, and one in the intensive care unit.
A total of 119 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
