Yahoo Finance The Crown's Emma Corrin Buys First Chest Binder Months After Using The Term 'Queer'
The Crown star Emma Corrin has opened up about purchasing a chest binder for the first time, describing the moment as a ‘new’ and ‘intimate’ journey.
The actor, who played Princess Diana in season four of the hit Netflix series, shared several black and white photos of themselves wearing boxing wrap tied around the chest.
‘Some time before I bought my first binder,’ the actor captioned the series of images on social media, tagging photographer David Simon.
‘We used boxing wrap, thanks for capturing this with me, very intimate, very new, very cool. It’s all a journey right. Lots of twists and turns and change and that’s ok! Embrace it, [sic]’ Corrin added.
The award winner also tagged the trans-owned company g2cb - which manufactures binders - in the post and menswear designer Daniel W. Fletcher, who designed Corrin’s shorts worn in the picture.
A binder is a piece of fabric worn across the breasts to give the appearance of a flatter chest. While there are risks associated with chest binding, including chest and back pain, Pride in Practice notes that the safest and most common option is to use a ‘dedicated binder’ which is specifically designed for purpose.
According to gc2b, their binders feature ‘a patented front and back, double panel, mixed material design to construct a flat appearance through superior tissue distribution and comfortable compression’.
Several of Corrin’s fans have taken to the post to share their praise for the star sharing their binding experience.
‘Thank you for sharing you journey with us, love u, [sic]’ wrote on follower.
‘IM SO PROUD OF YOU, [sic]’ wrote another.
One added: ‘Amazing! I just bought my first binder. Journey on.’
The post comes weeks after the Golden Globe winner is believed to have changed their pronouns to she/they, after briefly adding new pronouns on their Instagram page. However, it appears the actor has since removed the pronouns from the account.
In April, Corrin’s fans believed they had announced that they are 'queer' after sharing a photograph from Pop magazine in which they wear a wedding dress and veil.
‘Ur fave queer bride,’ they captioned the post.
