Crystal Palace are again be without star man Wilfried Zaha tonight with the forward yet to return a negative Covid-19 test, Roy Hodgson has confirmed.

The Eagles were without Zaha, who has tested positive for coronavirus, for the defeat at Burnley, though Hodgson was hopeful that he would test negative and be allowed to return to the squad before this evening’s visit of Newcastle.

However, the 28-year-old remains in isolation and will not be tested again until Saturday.

"He won't be in contention for this," said Hodgson. "He's still got to serve out the period of isolation so that will take him to Saturday when he'll be tested again.

"We're hoping that test will be negative because he's been feeling OK as is often the case when people test positive, but he's obviously had the virus so we have to follow all the procedures.

"It's always the case that whenever you have a player who's hit the headlines for his club - exactly the way Wilf has done for us, and there are lots of other players you could name at other clubs who'd fall into the same category - it's pretty normal when a team plays without that player you don't get a positive result when everything features around the man who's missing.

"We did miss him of course, and we always miss him when he's not playing"
