CSIU board votes to refund districts $36,794

Dec. 22—MONTANDON — The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) board of directors at Wednesday night's meeting approved returning 35 percent of the fees generated by orders from CSIU districts using the Keystone Purchasing Network (KPN) and Pennsylvania Electronic Payment Program (PEPPM).

The amount refunded to CSIU districts and technical schools was $36,794.

The CSIU has sponsored a customer appreciation program to reward school districts and career and technical schools in the CSIU region for participating in the CSIU's cooperative purchasing programs since 2013.

Earlier in the meeting, there was a paper tally for multiple nominations for treasurer. Lauren Hackenburg, of the Line Mountain School District, was the nominee brought forward for a public vote for treasurer, which was unanimous in her favor.

In a report to the board, CSIU's public relations department, in collaboration with SUN Area Technical Institute staff created a short, promotional videos to inform potential students about the programs and offerings available to sending districts. The video highlights the Automotive Technology program. Videos created for all 19 programs, including a longer video overviewing the entire technical school, will be available at https://sun-tech.org/ and on the digital kiosks housed in sending districts in the new year.

CSIU can provide video production and other communication services based on a district's interests and needs. Anyone interested in contracting should contact Chief Outreach Officer Bernadette Boerckel to discuss.

"The opportunity to create a free, 30-second video celebrating your district through the CSIU's WBRE Northeast PA Children's First Campaign partnership is available through September 2025," Boerckel said.
