Love Island star Curtis Pritchard has apologised for offending viewers of a stand-up show with jokes that went too far.

The ballroom dancer and reality TV personality took part in Channel 4's Stand Up And Deliver, in which celebrities were tasked with creating and performing a comedy routine in aid of fundraising campaign Stand Up To Cancer.

Pritchard, 25, was mentored by Loose Women's Judi Love, but decided not to take her advice on which jokes to leave out – leading to the audience booing him.

Speaking on the podcast AJ vs Curtis, which he does with his brother, former Strictly star AJ Pritchard, the dancer said he'd had time to reflect on his sense of humour.

He said: "I just want to quickly say I recently took part in the Stand Up To Cancer initiative with Channel 4 where I was challenged to become a stand-up comedian.

"I just want to apologise because I know that everyone that listens to this, you always support me and you are lovely and give me the utmost respect and thank you so much for that, but I just want to apologise to anybody that I have offended.

"Some of the jokes, they were completely off-track and went too far and I didn't realise that at the time but I realise it now and I just want to apologise to everybody and anybody that I have offended.

"It was never intentional at all, it really wasn't. It was a great show to be a part of and I was very fortunate to be able to take part but I just want to apologise and say I am sorry for the jokes."

Pritchard's rude jokes covered topics including sexual stamina, Viagra and lubricant, drawing boos from the audience and left mentor Love with her head in her hands.

She said at one point: "I didn't even know that he was going to do this joke, I told him to take this joke out."
