Yahoo Finance Dan Levy declares Paris Men's Fashion Week officially open
Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy declared Paris Men's Fashion Week officially open via a pre-recorded video on Tuesday.
The actor, who is known for wearing high-end designer fashion as his Schitt's Creek character David Rose, wore a colourful and flowery Valentino shirt to record the video from Los Angeles.
Introducing himself as a "lifelong fashion fan", he continued his opening monologue by explaining how the wardrobe played such an integral part of the show.
"Helping to costume and style our characters gave me an even deeper understanding of just how significant a role fashion plays in our day-to-day lives - how a well constructed garment can help you stand a little taller, carry yourself with a little more confidence and express who you are without ever having to say a word," he said. "Putting on my Rick Owens everyday, getting into character as David Rose, instantly made me feel at home. I felt strong and powerful and special. And that is the beauty of fashion."
He went on to praise menswear designers for giving him more options to wear instead of simple black ties and plain shirts.
"We can now wear Thom Browne kilts in lieu of dress pants and lemon yellow sequined turtlenecks instead of button-down shirts," he shared. "There is no more exciting time for men's wear than right now, as the designers showing this week continue to reinvent the category."
The 37-year-old told viewers that despite the time difference between Paris and Los Angeles, he would be watching the runway shows and fashion concept films via the livestream between Tuesday and Sunday.
"So congratulations in advance to all the designers and their talented teams for what I know will be a very very inspiring week. Let Paris Fashion Week Menswear commence!" he concluded his speech.
The event features a mix of digital and physical presentations, with all of them being livestreamed. Brands including Dior Homme, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Rick Owens, Burberry, Loewe and Thom Browne will showcase their spring/summer 22 collections over the next five days.
