Dan Walker opts out of Strictly Come Dancing tour due to work commitments

Dan Walker won't be taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing tour due to work commitments.

The BBC Breakfast presenter and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova were eliminated from the competition on Sunday, finishing in fifth place.

Contestants who get as far in the competition as Dan generally join the live tour, but he explained on Twitter on Tuesday night that he's got too many work commitments.

"I can't wait to take my family to watch the #Strictly tour this year but I sadly won't be part of it," he tweeted. "I have too many work commitments and I want to be at home after spending so much longer on the actual show than I ever expected. I'm sure it'll be amazing - as usual."

The line-up for the Strictly live tour was announced on Tuesday. The semi-finalists - John Whaite, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Rhys Stephenson, and AJ Odudu - will be taking part with their respective partners Johannes Radebe, Giovanni Pernice, Nancy Xu and Kai Widdrington.

They will be joined by eliminated constants Sara Davies and Aljaz Skorjanec and Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin, while 2020 participant Max George will perform with Katya Jones, although he was originally partnered with Dianne Buswell.

The tour will be hosted by Strictly professional-turned-It Takes Two host Janette Manrara and is judged by Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, and Bruno Tonioli, who was unable to appear on this year's series due to Covid-19 protocols.

The tour begins in Birmingham on 20 January and concludes at London's O2 Arena on 13 February.
