Yahoo Finance 'Dancing On Ice' newcomer Matt Richardson concussed during training
Dancing On Ice newcomer Matt Richardson has revealed he has already suffered an injury that saw him sent home for the day.
The comedian is replacing Rufus Hound in the ITV competition, after the star tested positive for the coronavirus.
And before he has even made his debut, Richardson has already suffered a black eye and a concussion.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he explained that it happened during training and joked that judge Christopher Dean was to blame.

“I was injured,” he said.
“It was entirely Christopher Dean’s fault, I think even he knows that deep down.
“On the masterclass day, I went to skate and I was terrible and they said the problem was my limbs, which isn’t ideal.
“He gave me a pole to skate with to stop my arms moving and as I was skating with the pole, I caught the front of my blade and went over the front of the pole and because I was holding something I couldn’t put my hands out to stop myself, so my face took all of the fall.”
“I ended up being sent home with concussion and a black eye,” he added.
As a reserve, Richardson has been training for as long as everyone else and said being a replacement suits him.

“I think actually for me it is the best thing that they have bounced me in,” he told host Lorraine Kelly.
“I haven’t had much time to think about it, I have just got to go for it without too much trepidation and hopefully it will go alright.”

Hound announced earlier this week that he was leaving the competition.
The comedian had already been self-isolating after coming into contact with someone with the virus, then tested positive himself.

Addressing his fans in a video on YouTube, he said having to hang up his skates “sucks”.
Lorraine is on weekdays from 9am on ITV.
Dancing On Ice airs on ITV on Sunday evenings.
