Faye Brookes and Hamish Gaman will be performing a routine inspired by a royal love story on this weekend’s Dancing On Ice – and dressing up especially.

The duo, who are one of the eight couples left in the competition, revealed their plans during an interview with Lorraine Kelly on Friday morning.

Explaining that all of the pairs will be performing romantic routines in honour of Valentine’s Day, ex-Coronation Street star Brookes said: “Dancing On Ice is going to be portraying the greatest love stories on ice and we have been given the honour of Kate and William.”

“I am in the full wedding dress,” she continued, before turning to her skating partner and adding: “You have got the lovely coat, haven’t you?”

“The wardrobe department is incredible,” Gaman replied, as a picture of Kate Middleton and Prince William kissing at their 2011 wedding flashed up on-screen.

"We're not going to look like that,” he quipped.

It hasn’t all been smooth-sailing for the current series of Dancing On Ice and on Friday afternoon, Joe Warren-Plant and his partner Vanessa Bauer were forced to leave after testing positive for coronavirus.

The week prior, Billie Faiers became the third celebrity to pull out of the competition.

The reality TV star explained last Saturday that she would be unable to perform after suffering concussion from falling on the ice.

Each couple is allowed one bye per series. As Faiers and her partner Mark Hanretty had already used theirs, when the former suffered a family bereavement, they had to exit the contest.

Rufus Hound and Denise Van Outen previously pulled out after suffering from coronavirus and a broken shoulder, respectively.

Brookes also discussed the judges’ scoring, following claims she has been marked unfairly.

Kelly told her: “They are nit-picking, Faye. They’re being real nit-picky actually if you don’t mind me saying.”

Brookes responded: “They’re doing their job aren’t they, they have to give us constructive criticism and I want them to. I want to get the very best out of this experience.”
