Danny Dyer claims his wife 'resents' him for having successful career

Danny Dyer has claimed his wife Joanne Mas "resents" him as she sacrificed her own professional ambitions to allow him to pursue an acting career.

During a chat with his daughter, Love Island's Dani Dyer, on their Sorted with the Dyers podcast, the EastEnders actor shared that Joanne gave up a lot to ensure his career took off.

"She sacrificed a lot for me," he said, reports The Sun. "The idea that I was going to be an actor, coming from where I come from, I didn't stand a chance. When you come from somewhere like Custom House (in east London), it was a dream.

"The idea of one partner sacrificing a potential career to let the other one go off and roll the dice and be free, and fly, she did allow that. She resents me for it now."

He shared that when they finished school, she had qualifications but had to get a job at Asda, while he had none but managed to get acting work.

"I remember when she first came out of school and got nine GCSEs she had to go to Asda serving up the chickens and on the pizza counter," he recalled. "And, of course, me being the ilk that I was, who didn't get any GCSEs, I was working in Manchester filming and giving it the big I am. She did me a shot, she said, 'You go and do it.'"

Danny and Joanne began dating in school and after a brief split in the '90s, they rekindled their relationship and got married in 2016. They are parents to Dani, 25, Sunnie, 14, and Arty, eight.
