David Letterman, Paul Shaffer reunite to raffle off ‘Late Show’ marquee for charity

NEW YORK — Late night TV’s dynamic duo David Letterman and Paul Shaffer are getting back together for charity.

The former stars of “The Late Show” reunited on Thursday to announce a raffle for a piece of the show’s iconic marquee as the grand prize in a sweepstakes benefiting Habitat for Humanity.

Letterman has been a longtime supporter and volunteer for the Atlanta-based nonprofit that builds and repairs homes for those in need. In 2018, the Indianapolis native partnered with former President Jimmy Carter to launch a Habitat for Humanity building blitz in northern Indiana.

For a donation of $10 or more, fans can win a piece of television history.

The 20-by-8-foot blue-and-yellow side panel hung outside the Ed Sullivan Theater for the entire run of Letterman’s late-night CBS show, from 1993 to 2013.

The grand prize also includes a trip to New York City to meet the five-time Emmy Award winner and his longtime band leader. An appearance alongside the duo on “The Barbara Gaines Show” is also included. The YouTube series “that everybody wants to be on” is hosted by Gaines, Letterman’s former executive producer.
