This ‘do-it-all’ device turns your new iPad Air into a laptop

This year, Apple seriously upped its game with countless impressive releases. Most recently, the tech juggernaut unveiled the latest iPhone and Apple Watches, along with the fourth-generation iPad Air, which is currently available for purchase.

While iPad releases are usually the least exciting launches (by Apple’s standards) for many, this year was different. The brand made the decision to remove the home button from the device, creating an edge-to-edge display that mimics the design of the much more expensive iPad Pro.

This sleeker, luxe model creates a more flexible and fluid user experience that can replace many other gadgets. In fact, Logitech’s latest accessory for the iPad Air may even be the official laptop killer.

Logitech created the Folio Touch specifically for use with the fourth-generation iPad Air and the 11-inch iPad Pro. Described as the case that can “do it all,” this device isn’t your standard tablet case. When unfolded, it has a full-length keyboard that features an operable, high-precision trackpad. Think a laptop, but much more compact and convenient.

The trackpad gives users increased productivity in apps like Notes, Pages, and Numbers. It also lets users perform detailed functions like composing and editing emails, copying words, highlighting and filling spreadsheet cells and more.

Further adding to its laptop-like functionality, the large trackpad also supports multi-touch gestures like swipe, scroll and app-switch — all of which are native to most Apple computers.

Further beefing up its laptop-like controls, the gadget features a full row of shortcut keys (pictured above). Eliminating the need to hunt for menus to perform simple tasks and actions, Logitech created programmed keys that support iPadOS shortcuts like volume and media controls, brightness levels, screen lock, search and more.

For added convenience, the Folio Touch also boasts four versatile user modes that make it easy to perform any task while in place or on-the-go: type, view, sketch and read.

The tech-driven case launched in October, so it doesn’t have many reviews just yet. But based on the few Amazon reviews that have rolled in since launch, it’s already a hit.

One shopper dubbed it a “terrific alternative to the Apple Magic Keyboard at roughly half the price.” The same reviewer praised the product’s trackpad, noting that it is responsive and the cover material luxe and “durable.”

If you own an older generation of the Apple iPad, Logitech also has similarly designed cases for those devices. Take a look at a couple of options below:
