Did Congress ally say he would make India an Islamic state?

A video of All India United Democratic Front chief Badruddin Ajmal has gone viral on social media where he seems to be making inflammatory remarks related to Hindus and Muslims.

The video shows him as saying: “India was under the Mughal rule for 800 years. Now, after aligning with the United Province Alliance, a 'Mahagathbandhan', we will create an Islamic state in this country. There won't be any Hindu left here. All of them will be converted to Islam."

However, Ajmal, who is a controversial leader and often accused of playing the religious card for votes, has vehemently denied making any such remarks and claimed that the video that is being circulated is totally fake.

"This is 100% fake. Parts from different speeches have been merged to make this and project that if Congress-AIUDF alliance comes to power, it will make Assam an Islamic state," he clarified.

The AIUDF is a regional party in Assam which has whipped up an alliance with the Congress to contest upcoming Assembly polls.
