Henry Cavill hints at exciting new ‘secret’ project in blurry Instagram post: ‘Wait and see’

Henry Cavill, devoted gamer and star of Netflix’s The Witcher, might have leaked his involvement in a Mass Effect project.

The actor posted up a picture of himself in a dressing room with a cheeky caption that seemed to be both a hint and challenge.

“Secret project?” Cavill wrote on his Instagram post. “Or just a handful of paper with random words on it… Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Happy hump day all.”

But one investigator at GamePressure didn’t wait. By using the program Focus Magic, they unblurred the murky letters on the pages that Cavill was holding to reveal a surprising find: it appears to be a partial synopsis of Mass Effect 3.

GamePressure speculated that it came from the game’s Wikipedia page. Here’s the relevant section below:

“Following the events on Tuchanka and a failed coup by Cerberus to take over the Citadel, the quarians offer their support to the Alliance if Shepard helps them reclaim their homeworld, Rannoch, from the geth. Assisted by a quarian, either Tali’Zorah or Admiral Daro’Xen, Shepard boards a geth dreadnought and rescues a captive geth unit, either Legion or a facsimile occupied by a geth virtual intelligence (VI), then disables the Reaper control signal over the geth.”

And now begins the guessing game. How legit is this leak? Is Cavill actually working on a Mass Effect project? Or did he simply print out Mass Effect 3’s Wikipedia page to troll everyone during a slow week?

BioWare has yet to make an official announcement about Cavill. However, as noted before, Cavill is very passionate about video games. He was nerding out for hundreds of hours on The Witcher games years before the Netflix show even began production.

So another video game project is right up his alley. If Cavill is indeed attached to a Mass Effect project, the safest guess is that he’ll have a role in the next Mass Effect game. BioWare confirmed the game’s existence with a teaser trailer at The Game Awards 2020.

After all, the Mass Effect series has a history of casting Hollywood actors into its games. Among them include Keith David as Captain David Anderson, Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man, Natalie Dormer as Dr. Lexi T’Perro and more.

So if you’re really hoping this leak is true, you can still cling onto hope — for now.
