Diego Maradona’s daughter Dalma was moved to tears on Sunday as she watched Boca Juniors pay tribute to her father, who died last week at the age of 60 following a cardiac arrest.

The football world has been paying tribute to the Argentina and Napoli legend in the days since his death, and there was no exception on Sunday when two of Maradona’s former clubs – Boca and Newell’s Old Boys – met in the Argentine Primera Division.

Hosts Boca emerged 2-0 winners thanks to a brace from Edwin Cardona, who led his team in a tribute to Maradona while celebrating his first goal of the game.

Cardona and his team-mates, wearing Maradona jerseys, ran over to the side of the pitch and looked up to the stands, where Maradona’s daughter Dalma was watching the game.

The players proceeded to applaud Dalma, bringing her to tears.

Maradona represented Boca between 1981 and 1982, returning to the club in 1995 and staying until 1997.

In between those spells, the midfielder played for Newell’s Old Boys from 1993 to 1994.
