Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 West Ham LIVE! Rice goal - Europa League match stream, latest score and goal updates

Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 West Ham LIVE! Rice goal - Europa League match stream, latest score and goal updates

Dinamo Zagreb vs West Ham - LIVE!

West Ham’s European adventure gets underway in Croatia tonight as they take on Dinamo Zagreb on the opening night of the Europa League group stage.

At one stage late last season, the Hammers looked to have a genuine chance of finishing in the top four and earning a spot in the Champions League but their reward for an excellent campaign and a sixth-placed finish is a first European campaign beyond the qualifying rounds since 2006/07.

On that occasion, the Irons were knocked out in the first round of the Uefa Cup by Palermo, but this time they are guaranteed at least six matches, with home and away fixtures to come against Genk and Rapid Wien.

Up first, however, are a Dinamo side who excelled in last season’s competition, knocking out Tottenham with an epic comeback in the last-16 before losing to eventual champions Villarreal in the quarter-finals.

FT: Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 West Ham

19:36 , Malik Ouzia

Just about perfect.

19:33 , Malik Ouzia

90+1 mins: There’ll be three minutes of added time...

19:29 , Malik Ouzia

86 mins: Mark Noble’s immeidately brought a bit of control, resisting the urge to fire balls in behind as one or two players break forward and opting to keep the ball.

19:26 , Malik Ouzia

83 mins: Looks like a triple change for the Hammers, among them a proud moment for Mark Noble, who comes on and takes the captain’s armband from Declan Rice.

Andriy Yarmolenko and Arthur Masuaku are the other men sent on, with Michail Antonio and Pablo Fornals into the mix.

19:24 , Malik Ouzia

81 mins: Into the final ten minutes and it’s just about seeing it out for West Ham now. They’re on the brink of a superb result away from home.

19:17 , Malik Ouzia

73 mins: West Ham are playing some lovely stuff, with Benrahma heavily involved since his introduction. Antonio cushions into the path of Fornals, but his effort hasn’t got enough power behind it to trouble the ‘keeper.

19:12 , Malik Ouzia

69 mins: Vlasic’s first West Ham start last 69 minutes - Jarrod Bowen is into the fray.

19:10 , Malik Ouzia

67 mins: Misic is the first home player into the book for a cynical foul on Antonio after the forward had intercepted his, frankly, rubbish pass.

Here’s that cracking Declan Rice goal...

David Moyes will surely be starting to think about changes with Manchester United on Sunday in mind. Antonio, who is suspended Sunday, will likely play on but the manager will want to save the legs of Rice, Soucek and perhaps Fornals.

19:04 , Malik Ouzia

61 mins: West Ham have lost a bit of intensity and a bit of control since socring that second goal. There’s still plenty of time left and if the home side get one back it’s suddenly a very different game.

19:02 , Malik Ouzia

59 mins: That man again. Ivanusec slaloms his way into the box and then pokes towards the far corner. Not sure if Fabianski got a faint touch on that but it dribbles just wide.

Dan Kilpatrick is in Zagreb

18:58 , Malik Ouzia

That goal was another reminder of Rice’s talent as he punished Dinamo for another loose pass with a superb run and low finish. Should be noted that moments before Lanzini was very fortunate to avoid a second booking for a lunge from behind. It’s all going West Ham’s way here.

18:58 , Malik Ouzia

54 mins: That was almost one back. Ivanusec lets fly from long range and a deflection leaves Fabianski absolutely helpless, stood on one side of the goal praying the ball carries wide of the other. It does, just.

18:55 , Malik Ouzia

52 mins: Rather wisely, Lanzini is immediately withdrawn and Said Benrahma is on in his place.

GOAL! Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 West Ham | Declan Rice 50’

18:54 , Malik Ouzia

Brilliant from Rice!

The England midfielder wins the ball back just inside the Zagreb half and sets off on his own, driving into the space, into the box, and firing left-footed through the ‘keeper’s legs to double West Ham’s advantage.

18:53 , Malik Ouzia

49 mins: Manuel Lanzini is a lucky boy. He goes sliding in on Ristovski and gets none of the ball and plenty of the man. Remarkably, the referee thinks it’s not a foul - had he given the free-kick he may well have been showing the Argentine a second yellow card.

18:51 , Malik Ouzia

47 mins: That’s more like it from the home side and again it’s Petkovic, the one player in dark blue who has taken the fight to West Ham, who finds a bit if space and fires through three defenders.

Fabianski can’t have seen it until late but fortunately for the Pole it’s a yard or two wide of his near post.

KICK-OFF!

18:49 , Malik Ouzia

Deni Juric is on at the break for the home side, with Kévin Théophile-Catherine, whose error gifted West Ham the opener, the man dragged off.

18:47 , Malik Ouzia

More of the same, will surely be the message from David Moyes, though I’m sure he’d love another goal or two to give him licence to rest a couple ahead of the Man United clash at the weekend.

The teams are on their way back out...

Dan Kilpatrick is in Zagreb

18:34 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham’s deservedly lead through Antonio’s strike after a mature first half display. Only frustration for David Moyes is that Fredericks didn’t take a chance to double their lead. The manager would love to be comfortable with 20 or 30 minutes remaining so he can save legs for Man United on Sunday.

HT: Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 West Ham

18:32 , Malik Ouzia

So far, so good for the Hammers.

Dan Kilpatrick is in Zagreb

18:29 , Malik Ouzia

Zouma has been quietly excellent on his West Ham debut so far. The Frenchman has won everything in the air in an imposing display. With Rice and Soucek marshalling the midfield, it is hard for Dinamo to turn possession into chances.

18:27 , Malik Ouzia

41 mins: Getting closer to a second. Fornals floats in a teasing ball and if Antonio wins the header it’s a goal but Lauritsen gets up best. The ball drops to Vlasic who hammers at goal, but it strikes the legs of a defender and zips away.

18:24 , Malik Ouzia

38 mins: Kurt Zouma’s looked assured, albeit without being troubled too often, on his Hammer debut. He defends aggressively, on the front foot again, to nip in ahead of Petkovic and win the ball back.

18:19 , Malik Ouzia

33 mins: Manuel Lanzini is into the book for a challenge on Petkovic. He actually won a fair chunk of the ball but it was a pretty forceful tackle.

18:17 , Malik Ouzia

31 mins: They’re enjoying themselves at the moment, West Ham. Vlasic drives into the box from the left and tries to squeeze one across goal for Antonio to have another tap-in but it’s cut out by the ‘keeper.

Dan Kilpatrick is in Zagreb

18:12 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham fully deserve their lead through Antonio and should have already doubled it, with the Dinamo goalkeeper saving well from Ryan Fredericks. Moyes described tonight as the toughest game in the group but his side are making it look easy.

18:11 , Malik Ouzia

24 mins: Almost a second!

Fredericks breaks forward again and into the box with just Livakovic to beat but the angle is tight and the ‘keeper spreads himself well to save with his feet.

GOAL! Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 West Ham | Michail Antonio 22'

18:07 , Malik Ouzia

A gift!

It’s a really sloppy backpass from Kévin Théophile-Catherine and Antonio is alive, nipping in in front of the ‘keeper to round him and then slide into the empty net.

18:06 , Malik Ouzia

19 mins: A first decent bit of territory here for the home side as Petkovic holds off Rice until the Hammers skipper fouls him and gives away a free-kick.

Very central and a long way out but Orsic fancies a crack. Well-hit, but never dipping in time.

Dan Kilptraick is in Zagreb

18:02 , Malik Ouzia

This is Dinamo’s 16th consecutive season in Europe (and West Ham’s first-ever European group stage) but it is the Hammers who look like the more experienced side so far. They are running the game, and the hosts have barely touched the ball.

18:00 , Malik Ouzia

13 mins: Good football down the left from the Hammers as Vlasic, Fornals and Lanzini all pop up on the same flank with some nice interplay. Eventually, the ball finds Rice on the edge of the box and he leathers one goalwards but it’s blocked by the body of a defender.

17:54 , Malik Ouzia

8 mins: Ryan Fredericks is in for Vladimir Coufal tongiht and he’s made a bright start with a couple of raids down the right. He finds Antonio on the latest of them and the forward forces a third Hammers corner.

Dan Kilpatrick is in Zagreb

17:51 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham have made a strong start here, winning two corners in the first few minutes before Manuel Lanzini fired over the bar. At the other end, debutant Kurt Zouma won his first header with a towering leap over his man. David Moyes’s side are looking to make their mark on the game early.

17:50 , Malik Ouzia

4 mins: Decent start from the visitors, who are on the front foot winning a couple of early corners. The second of them is only half-cleared as far as Lanzini and the Argentine shuffles to the left of the box and tries his luck from the angle but blasts high and wide.

KICK-OFF!

17:46 , Malik Ouzia

Off we go...

17:45 , Malik Ouzia

The teams are out in Zagreb. Almost showtime...

17:40 , Malik Ouzia

Right then, kick-off is just five minutes away. A tough ask this for West Ham, against a Zagreb side who I’m sure many Hammers fans delighted in seeing knock Spurs out of last season’s competition.

Can Moyes’ men get off to a flier?

Areola left out

17:22 , Malik Ouzia

I think plenty of people were expecting to see Alphonse Areola handed a start this evening, though Twitter is already awash with speculation as to what the fact that he’s left on the bench and Lukasz Fabianski starts again means.

Could we see the Frenchman against Man United on Sunday?

The European tour starts here...

17:12 , Malik Ouzia

Vlasic, Zouma make first starts

16:56 , Malik Ouzia

So, as expected, David Moyes hands out a couple of full debuts as Kurt Zouma starts at centre-back and Nikola Vlasic, who made his bow off the bench against Southampton at the weekend, also comes into the side.

There are rests for the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Vladimir Coufal, but that is still a strong Hammers side, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in midfield and Michail Antonio leading the line.

West Ham team news

16:35 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham XI: Fabianski; Fredericks, Zouma, Diop, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Vlasic, Lanzini, Fornals; Antonio.

Subs: Areola, Randolph, Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Johnson, Noble, Kral, Masuaku, Yarmolenko, Benrahma, Bowen

Standard Sport prediction

16:30 , Malik Ouzia

There is no question that West Ham are where they belong given the impressive performances they produced last season. But a hostile atmosphere and the relatively new experience of playing a European fixture can’t be ignored when making a prediction. They’ll give a good account of themselves, but Moyes might look back on this one as a source of valuable lessons.

Dinamo Zagreb 1-1 West Ham

Here’s how we think West Ham could lineup...

16:16 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham probable XI: (4-3-3) Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Noble, Soucek; Fornals, Vlasic, Antonio.

West Ham team news

16:03 , Malik Ouzia

David Moyes could hand debuts to two of his three new signings with the Kurt Zouma and Alphonse Areola in line for starting berths. Fellow new signing Nikola Vlasic from Croatia could also feature from the opening whistle which would be hist first start for the club after a 30 minute cameo against Southampton on Saturday.

Moyes may start Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice in the middle of the park but with a league clash against Manchester United coming just three days later, he may be tempted to rotate some of his squad.
