Dolly Parton's most eye-catching CMA Awards looks from over the years

When the biggest names in country music convene in Nashville on Wednesday night for the 2019 CMA Awards, they'll be ushered through the night by three of the genre's leading ladies: Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.

The co-hosts for the 53rd annual awards show are certainly some of the most lauded legends in country music and, while Underwood has co-hosted the event with Brad Paisley since 2008, and McEntire has been at the show countless times, the gig will actually mark just one of a handful of appearances at country music's most important ceremony for Parton.

While she's been nominated for a whopping 44 CMA Awards since her first nomination in 1968 (and won nine, including Entertainer of the Year in 1978), the "Jolene" hitmaker has only gone to the CMAs a few times, like in 1975 when she accepted Female Vocalist of the Year in person, and in 1988 when she won the award for Vocal Event of the Year for "Trio" with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. Three years ago, in 2016, she was also presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for the CMAs' 50th annual presentation.

Two of her appearances at the CMAs featured performances with other gifted musicians: She performed with Norah Jones in 2003 and Elton John in 2005.
