The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Edinburgh, the first stop on their three-day festive train tour of England, Scotland and Wales.

The couple pulled into the Scottish train station where they then went on to met with paramedics and staff of the Scottish Ambulance Service, to thank them for their incredible work throughout the pandemic.

The meeting comes after the Duke and Duchess were announced as joint patrons of NHS Charities Together earlier today.

The organisation is said to "represent, support and champion NHS charities working with the NHS to help it do more." The NHS charities provide extra funding and additional services beyond NHS core funds, to support hospitals, communities, mental health services and ambulance services.

Edinburgh is the first stop on the royal couple's tour, which will see them also travel to England and Wales over the coming days. The tour is an opportunity for the Duke and Duchess to pay tribute to those who have done amazing work this year to support their community, despite the challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown their way.

For the visit to Edinburgh, the Duchess wrapped up in a royal-blue longline coat, with high-knee navy boots and matching gloves. The Duke wore a longline navy coat and tartan scarf.

William and Kate kicked off the the festive tour at Euston station in London last night (6 Dec), where they invited 80s popstar Shakin' Stevens to perform 'Merry Christmas Everyone'.
