Hannah Waddingham hosted this year's Earthshot Prize ceremony on Tuesday (7 September), the environmental award launched by The Prince of Wales.

For the occasion, Hannah wore a stunning green, floor-length gown with a dramatic, regal trail. Accompanying her on the green carpet was Prince William, who looked sharp in a tuxedo, complete with green velvet jacket.

The ceremony was held in Singapore, which saw the winners of the 2023 award announced before a star-studded line up which included Hollywood actor Cate Blanchett, as will Robert Irwin, son of the late wildlife conservationist, Steve Irwin.

There were five winners, one in each category announced. The winners taking home the prize were Accion Andina, GRST, WildAid Marine Program, S4S Technologies and Boomitra. A full list of finalists and winners can be found at the end of this article.

Sharing a video to social media ahead of the ceremony, Prince William described this year's finalist as "ground-breaking," saying, "they are inspirational and they are changing the world already," in a caption.

The Prince and Princess of Wales announced this year's finalists for the Earthshot Prize in September earlier this year.

A video clip introducing the 2023 shortlist for the environmental award (launched in 2021) was featured across the couple's official social media accounts.

Alongside the post, Prince William wrote, "Congratulations to this latest cohort of groundbreaking solutions to protect and restore the planet." He added that each initiative was "a true inspiration," saying it was, "such a pleasure to have them on board."

The Earthshot prize is set to return once a year for a decade following the first awards, to honour the projects creating innovative solutions to climate problems.

In a YouTube video introducing the first Earthshot Award, Prince William explained that the award would decide a winner from a total of 15 nominees across five categories, with entries coming in from around the globe.

An introduction to the announcement said that we were in the midst of an “unprecedented crisis which threatens nature and every one of us" and that "we must act with urgency" to help the environment.

While all the named finalists will receive "tailored support" to scale up their projects, the winners' prize is £1 million to support their work.
