The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge team up for video chat with NHS student nurse

From Good Housekeeping

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a joint video engagement on Wednesday (10 February), as they sat down for a chat with student nurses.

The royals first spoke to adult nursing student Abigail to hear more about the challenges of studying and undertaking a placement during the pandemic, after the first-year student shared a video diary of a typical shift on the wards.

In a short clip from their conversation, shared on the official @KensingtonPalace Instagram account, Abigail revealed that she is a third generation nurse, which led the Duchess of Cambridge to tell her with a smile: "Compassion and empathy obviously run strong in your family!"

At the end of their chat – during which Abigail told the royals about some of the biggest challenges she has faced, including the emotional impact of patients being unable to see their families as a result of Covid-19 – Kate praised her, saying: "Good luck and well done for all of your hard work!"

During this latest video engagement, the royals also spoke to Ulster University staff and students to hear more about the invaluable experiences that student nurses have gained working on the frontline, as well as the support they have received during this time.

Will and Kate both dressed smartly for the occasion, with the duchess choosing to wear a classic black tuxedo jacket over a simple white T-shirt. The luxe jacket appears to be a design by Alexander McQueen that she has stepped out in previously.

Kate completed her chic outfit with a new accessory, Astley Clarke's £160 Round Stilla Lapis Lazuli Pendant Necklace, the brand has confirmed to Good Housekeeping. The gold pendant accessory features a stunning lapis lazuli gem.
