Dwayne Johnson brings home two top prizes at People's Choice Awards

Dwayne Johnson was a double winner at the 2021 People's Choice Awards on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old actor received awards for Male Movie Star of 2021 and Comedy Movie Star of 2021 for his performance as Frank in Jungle Cruise.

Another film in the spotlight was Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which scored Action Movie of 2021, while star Simu Liu won the award for Action Movie Star of 2021. Halle Berry, who recently celebrated her directorial debut with her movie Bruised, was awarded the People's Icon Award for her contributions to TV and film.

Hosted by comedian and Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the fan-voted awards show featured performances by H.E.R., who paid tribute to Marvin Gaye, and Blake Shelton, who performed Come Back As a Country Boy before accepting the award for Country Artist of 2021. Christina Aguilera performed a melody of her greatest hits and later received the inaugural Music Icon Award.

Kim Kardashian was honoured with the Fashion Icon Award, which she accepted while wearing Batman-inspired sunglasses and an all-black bodysuit.
