Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash which happened at 4.20pm in Coleridge Way, West Drayton, on Sunday.

Traffic investigators do not think any other vehicles was involved and have said the e-scooter was not hired.

“At this early stage it is believed that no other vehicles were involved in the collision.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton on 0208 246 9820.

TV presenter and YouTube star Emily Hartridge, 35, was the victim of the first fatal collision in Britain involving an e-scooter.

She died in July 2019 after her e-scooter collided with a lorry in Battersea, south east London.

A trial of rental e-scooters was launched in parts of central south west and west London on 7 June.

The hired scooters are limited to 12.5 mph and must have front and rear lights.

Riders must have a full or provisional car or motorcycle licence and are recommended to wear a helmet but it is not compulsory.

Across the country more than 70 people have been injured in trials, including 11 who were seriously hurt.
