Emilia Clarke has apparently quit taking selfies with fans after a man asked for a snap while she was in tears.

The Game Of Thrones actress, 33, had a panic attack brought on from exhaustion as she walked through an airport, and started to cry.

As tears rolled down her face, a fan approached in the hope of a quick pic with the star.

Speaking on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast, Clarke said: “I’m crying and this guy’s like, ‘Can I get a selfie? Can I get a selfie?’ And I was like, ‘I can’t breathe, I’m really sorry…’

“It was after a few moments like that where you are just like, ‘I don’t know how to do this’, so I started to say, ‘I’m not going to take a picture but I’ll sign something’.”

The actress said she was happy to sign something for the fan because it meant interacting with the person instead of someone just demanding a selfie and then saying goodbye.

She added: “Then you have a little chat and you are actually having a truthful human to human thing, as opposed to it being this thing that probably isn’t nice for them and probably isn’t nice for you.”

Earlier this year, Clarke penned a moving essay for The New Yorker in which she revealed that she suffered two brain aneurysms after filming wrapped on the first season of Game Of Thrones.

She later revealed that she put pressure on herself "to feel normal" after being ill, but that it "brought on anxiety and fatigue".

She told The Telegraph: "That strain exhausted me more than anything, forcing myself to feel okay."

The London-born actress found fame in her breakthrough role as Daenerys Targaryen in hit fantasy television series Game Of Thrones, which aired from 2011 until this year.

She is currently starring in romantic comedy Last Christmas.
