There was a school reunion for Emma Raducanu when she joined Olympian Dina Asher-Smith at a glamorous London Fashion Week party.

The pair, both former pupils of Newstead Wood School in Bromley, rubbed shoulders with other guests including Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala, model Jourdan Dunn and actress Claire Foy.

Monday night’s party, hosted by British Vogue and Tiffany & Co at the Londoner Hotel in Leicester Square, celebrated this year’s LFW which ends on Tuesday and came as Raducanu confirmed she has signed up as an ambassador for the luxury jewellery firm.

Writing on Instagram, she said: “Very excited to join the iconic Tiffany & Co family as a House Ambassador.

The young star, who became the new face of women’s tennis when she won the US Open earlier this month, is expected to earn millions of pounds in lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals.

She has also been strongly linked with Chanel after wearing the French fashion house’s designs at the Met Gala after her historic win.

Sport super agent Max Eisenbud is currently managing the commercial side of her career and is said to have fielded calls from huge international brands including Japanese fashion chain Uniqlo, Aston Martin and Lacoste.

She also has the small issue of her £1.8 million prize money following her stunning victory at the US Open but the south London teenager said she will continue to focus on competing while her parents sort out her finances.

After being asked about the money on BBC Breakfast Ms Raducanu said: “I will just leave that to my parents. They can take that for me. I haven’t gone shopping yet.”

Her appearance at London Fashion Week was a boost for the event which returned to the capital after a difficult time for the fashion industry.

Covid closed catwalks and plunged it into crisis but Caroline Rush, head of the British Fashion Council, said London’s “digital physical hybrid” event was the “most physical” event in 18 months.

Some 130 brands, including Vivienne Westwood, Roksanda, Erdem and Emilia Wickstead, put on 79 catwalk shows or presentations — with a further 81 digital events.
