Emmerdale confirms alcohol relapse for Laurel Thomas in emotional scenes

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Laurel Thomas will have an alcohol relapse in heartbreaking Emmerdale scenes next week.

Soap bosses had previously confirmed that Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) would be tempted by alcohol after several years of sobriety, as she continues to grieve.

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) made the decision to terminate her pregnancy late last year when they found out from doctors that their child would be born with Down's syndrome.

Next week, Laurel is tormented with a bottle of vodka in the cupboard but is determined to pour it straight down the sink to resist temptation.

However, a devastating alert from one of her old pregnancy apps sends Laurel into a downward spiral, so she drinks some of the vodka.

Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) turns up to catch Laurel drinking the alcohol, and she is deeply saddened as Laurel finally opens up about the termination.

Jai arrives soon as well, having been alerted by Nicola to this desperate situation. Jai is anxious to make Laurel understand that he wants to support her, but is she willing to accept help?

Emmerdale will be airing these scenes of Laurel relapsing in her sobriety in the week beginning Monday, February 1 on ITV.
