With its distinct flavor and aroma, it’s no surprise that cinnamon is such a widely beloved spice. In addition to its potential health benefits, which include having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, cinnamon is a cozy complement to any dish or beverage. From desserts to entrées, cinnamon can show up in some pretty surprising places. Enjoy these five flavorful cinnamon recipes!

1. Cinnamon honey-glazed sweet potato chips

Who doesn’t love chips? This sweet potato variation involves thinly sliced sweet potatoes marinated in cinnamon, melted butter and honey. Once the sweet potatoes are evenly coated, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven, flipping them halfway through. Finally, let them cool and sprinkle on some sea salt for an extra flavorful kick.

2. Maple cinnamon kabocha squash

Enjoy the changing seasons with this cozy fall recipe. First, add diced kabocha squash (aka Japanese pumpkin), maple syrup, cinnamon and olive oil to a bowl. Once all of the ingredients are mixed, place them on a baking sheet, then bake for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Serve and enjoy!

3. Cinnamon honey butter mini chicken biscuits

This mouthwatering recipe is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. This decadent delight involves fried chicken coated in egg, cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar, sandwiched between a fluffy biscuit topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

4. Smoked ham with cinnamon apricot glaze

Sometimes the best part of a meal is the glaze, as shown in this hearty ham recipe. TikToker @learningtosmoke begins by seasoning a smoked ham before grilling and then marinating it with teriyaki sauce, Dr. Pepper and orange juice. Once the ham is cooked, he then drenches it in a thick glaze made from butter, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, apricot preserves and vanilla.

5. Cinnamon maple glazed carrots

This carrot recipe makes for an excellent fall side dish. Cook up chopped steamed carrots with brown sugar, maple syrup, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, chili powder, cinnamon, salt and pepper in a skillet. Mix and sautée for about five minutes until the carrots are evenly coated. Top off with a pinch of parsley and enjoy!
