Yahoo Finance ESPN's Scott Van Pelt tests positive for COVID-19, will miss next few 'SportsCenter' episodes
Popular ESPN personality Scott Van Pelt will be sidelined for the next few midnight episodes of “SportsCenter” after testing positive for COVID-19, he revealed through Twitter on Thursday.
Van Pelt disclosed that while he feels fine, he has lost his senses of smell and taste, which first prompted him to get tested. It’s unclear how long Van Pelt will be out.
Won’t be doing shows for a bit after a positive Covid-19 test. Thankfully, no fever & I feel fine. Just can’t smell or taste anything which was my clue to go get a test.

Van Pelt joins a list of ESPN personalities including Matthew Berry, Doris Burke, Todd McShay and Dan Dakich to test positive for the virus. He later added that his dog Otis had also torn his ACL, so it seemingly hasn’t been the best holiday season for the Van Pelt household.
Van Pelt’s presence on the midnight “SportsCenter” — which goes back to 2015 — will be missed, especially by the gamblers of the sports world. Segments like “Bad Beats” are a regular highlight, and give ESPN a reliable bright spot for its late night slate.
For now, it is unclear who will replace Van Pelt on “SportsCenter,” nor how long Van Pelt will be away from the show.
