Estefans: Immigration debate has fueled reaction to musical

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gloria and Emilio Estefan are crediting President Donald Trump with boosting audience enthusiasm for their stage musical "On Your Feet!"

The musical, which is in the midst of an 80-city U.S. tour, includes a recreation of an argument the Estefans said had with their manager about recording pop songs in English. In the show, Emilio Estefan tells the manager that America is his home now and he is "what an American looks like."

The Estefans say the moment is getting bigger audience reactions recently in the wake of President Donald Trump's harsher immigration policies.

The Estefans fled Cuba, settled in Miami and built a musical empire with a string of successes, including their signature song, "Conga."
