EU antitrust regulators set Nov. 28 deadline for Novozymes, Chr. Hansen deal

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - EU antitrust regulators will decide by Nov. 28 whether to clear Danish food ingredients and enzymes makers Novozymes and Chr. Hansen's tie-up, according to a European Commission filing.

The companies, which announced the deal in December last year, sought EU approval for the merger last Friday.

The EU competition enforcer can decide to clear the deal with or without remedies after its preliminary review or it can open a four-month long investigation if it has serious concerns.

Chr. Hansen focuses on enzymes and microbials for the food sector, while Novozymes' largest business areas include enzymes for household products, food and beverages and biofuels.
