EU Commission will launch a Stability Pact reform proposal after summer - Gentiloni

Euro zone finance ministers meet to discuss help for COVID-stricken companies

MILAN (Reuters) - The European Commission will make a proposal to reform the Stability Pact after the summer, Economic Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said on Monday.

Speaking to a conference in Milan, Gentiloni said the aim was to set a realistic path for debt reduction and avoid choking growth.

He reiterated that the decision to suspend the fiscal rules through 2023 was not an invitation for countries to spend freely.
