‘Euphoria’ Star Nika King Says She Hasn’t Paid Rent In 6 Months Amid Season 3 Delays

Nika King, star of Euphoria, says she has not paid her rent in six months as production for Season 3 of the HBO series continues to be delayed.

King, who plays Leslie Bennett in the Sam Levinson-created series, shared a clip of her stand-up comedy set where she talked about the show.

“Please stop asking me about s3,” read the video’s caption on TikTok.

In the clip, King says, “Season 3 is coming out… I don’t f***ing know. Don’t ask me. I don’t know.”

“It’s one of those things,” she continued. “People are like, ‘We need Season 3.’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I need Season 3. I haven’t paid my rent in six months.”

In the series, King is the mother of Zendaya’s Rue Bennett. King joked that while the Dune: Part Two star was in Paris Fashion Week, she said, “Bitch, come home. I need you. Mama needs you.”

“Yall laughing, and I’m serious,” King added.

She then explained that she hadn’t booked anything after being cast in Euphoria, noting, “I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji and she was like, ‘Bitch, get used to it.'”

Euphoria Season 3 has been delayed for several reasons, including scheduling, the Hollywood strikes, and Levinson’s work on HBO’s The Idol. Writers started working on the scripts after the strike ended, but as of now, there’s no production start date.

Colman Domingo recently discussed why he thinks the third season has been delayed, citing that Levinson likes to reflect real-world situations within the fictionalized series.

“[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he’s wrestling with what’s important,” Domingo told GQ in an interview recently. “He’s responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he’s very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That’s what he wants to figure out with season three.”

In August 2023, Levinson teased in an interview with Elle, that Season 3 was a “film noir” and said Rue would “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
