BERLIN (Reuters) - New car registrations in Europe tumbled almost 30% in October as global semiconductor shortages continued to hurt vehicle supply, industry data showed on Thursday.

With 798,693 cars sold in the region, this was the weakest result for a month of October since records began and the fourth consecutive month of decline in 2021, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said in a statement.

New passenger car registrations fell 29.3% in the European Union, Britain and the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) compared to last year, figures from the ACEA showed.
