Eva Green says Peculiar film shows 'being a bit strange is okay'

Eva Green says it's okay to be strange - and that standing out can be a good thing.

The French actress was speaking ahead of the release of her latest film, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.

Directed by Tim Burton and based on the bestselling book by children's author Ransom Riggs, the film tells the story of Jacob, who goes in search of the film's eponymous character after his grandfather dies.

He then meets the residents of her home - all of whom have special talents known as peculiarities.

The former Bond girl told Sky News: "I think everybody at some point or another has felt a bit strange or didn't fit in.

"I think that's what this movie is about - being a bit strange is OK and it's actually quite nice to be special."

She went on to pay tribute to the film's director, adding: "There's nobody better than Tim Burton who celebrates outcasts and who shines this warm light on those outsiders.

"Tim Burton is a dream to work with. He was my hero when I was a child. I'm still pinching myself every day going 'Oh my God I've been working with such a great filmmaker'.

"He's a real poet, a true artist and a wonderful human being as well, so it's a real luxury."

:: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children is released in cinemas across the UK on Friday.
