Eva Longoria Joins Matt Walsh in Comedy ‘Unplugging’
Eva Longoria will star in the upcoming independent comedy “Unplugging,” portraying the spouse of Matt Walsh’s character.
Principal photography has started in Oklahoma following Oklahoma state and SAG/AFTRA COVID-19 protocols. Lea Thompson, Keith David, Nicole Byer and Al Madrigal have joined the film, which marks the directorial debut from Debra Neil-Fisher. Walsh penned the script with Brad Morris.
The film will be produced by Debbie Liebling, Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel for The Traveling Picture Show Company, and Morris and Walsh. William G. Santor’s Productivity Media Inc. is financing, with Three Point Capital providing tax credit financing, and Radiant Films International handling foreign sales.
“Unplugging” sees Walsh’s character taking his wife away to a remote town for a “digital detox.” Their romantic weekend quickly turns disastrous with unearthly encounters, strong edibles and bizarre locals. With no cell and internet service, they’re lost, but end up reconnecting with each other along the way.
Coming up, Longoria has an untitled sci-fi film at Universal Pictures opposite Ice Cube from director Rich Lee and producers Patrick Aiello and Timur Bekmambetov. She will next be seen in Amazon’s “Sylvie’s Love” opposite Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha. Longoria will make her feature directorial debut in 2021 with the biopic “Flamin’ Hot” for Searchlight.
Longoria is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Walsh is repped by UTA. Thompson is repped by Innovative Artists and Gilbertson Entertainment. David is repped by Artists & Representatives and Silver J Management. Byer is repped by WME and Artists First. Madrigal is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
