Jose Mourinho will tonight be desperate for his Tottenham side to provide a swift response to their latest collapse when they travel to Everton.

After being held to a frustrating draw by Newcastle following the international break, Spurs led Manchester United 1-0 during last weekend’s eventful Premier League fixture in north London, only for an eventual 3-1 defeat to leave them scrambling badly in the crowded race for a top-four finish.

Indeed, the manager later admitted that even finishing in the top six would now be a difficult task for a Tottenham side that seem bereft of confidence and hampered by repeated defensive errors.

Looking to pile more pressure on Mourinho at Goodison Park is an Everton team that have seen their own bid for Champions League qualification falter following a run of five matches without a win across all competitions including successive insipid draws against Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Date, time and venue

Everton vs Tottenham is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Friday, April 16, 2021.

Everton vs Tottenham prediction

Both of these sides are frankly making a mess of their quest for a top-four finish and neither will be high on confidence ahead of Friday’s contest.

A defeat for either team would be pretty disastrous in that sense, which could make for a cautious affair that plays out into a low-key draw that does little for either side’s Champions League ambitions or is otherwise settled by the odd goal.

Having said that, the last meeting between Everton and Tottenham in February was a nine-goal thriller settled by Bernard’s extra-time goal that sent the Toffees through to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

A repeat of that would be most welcome for the neutrals!

2-2 draw.
