Exclusive: Amiri's Collab With Mr Porter Is One Handsome Son Of A Beach

Ever since its 2014 launch, Amiri has been its truest authentic self. This was LA, the downtown, rowdy sort, far from the "I know, rights" of the Hills and the bright lights of Hollywood. For Amiri, denim is on a power rip, and Hawaiian shirts are on acid. There's more than a dash of Axl Rose, too, mixed in with the once criminally forgotten streetwear from the City of Angels. And, it this unapologetic slant of native son Mike Amiri that has found a vast legion of followers including, but not limited to: Premier League footballers, Justin Bieber, Future and Bella Hadid. You can add Mr Porter to that mix.

Just this morning, Esquire can reveal a UK exclusive first look at a first-time collab between the luxury British retailer and Amiri under a banner of 'Palm Trees and a Cool Breeze'. Which is very Amiri. And the battered studded shoe fits, with the 31-piece collection directly catering to the 'punk surfer' that made the American-Iranian designer A Thing in the first place.

The collection itself is comprised of Amiri's key pillars: aloha shirts, graphic prints, baja flannels, distressed denim and tie-dye. Though in conjunction with Mr Porter, the line seems even more wearable: softer and looser, a day on Venice Beach (quite possibly paired with some perfectly legal medicinal aids) as opposed to a 4am hotel party an undisclosed location around Bel-Air.

"Working with Mr Porter has been a pleasure and we have built a great following for the brand. It’s nice to work on special projects together that highlight unique items," Amiri said of the collection. "The capsule combines several elements and various artwork and reimagines them together in a single piece. My favourite places in the world all have palm trees with a cool breeze. It is actually just as much of a statement of a general spirit of relaxation as it is an actual place."

That's important, especially when the beaches of most tropical climes are out of bounds. But with Amiri following the likes of Prada and Loewe with a Mr Porter collab, this laidback capsule may be the next best thing.
