Fast X's first reactions have raced in

First reactions land for Fast XUniversal

Fast X speeds into cinemas next week to mark the beginning of the end for The Fast Saga, and we now have the first reactions to the penultimate Fast & Furious movie.

The new movie sees Dom (Vin Diesel) and his familia threatened by a threat linked to his past: Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of Fast Five villain Hernan Reyes, who has spent the past 12 years masterminding his revenge.

Ahead of Fast X's release in cinemas next Friday (May 19), those lucky few to have already seen the new movie have taken to social media to share their reactions - so is it a promising start to The Fast Saga's now three-part finale?

"Fast X gets the Fast & Furious series back on track, and reason #1 is Jason Momoa, who plays Dante like F&F's version of The Joker," Eric Eisenberg, of CinemaBlend, wrote. "He's a gleeful psychopath, and it's delightful. Along with a story that avoids what made Fate Of The Furious and F9 feel stale, it's a win."

Forbes' Simon Thompson agreed that Momoa stole the film: "#FastX belongs to Jason Momoa and his decadent bad guy, Dante Reyes. Fierce and flamboyant, his perilous peacocking adds a sharp edge and some refreshing dark humor. The rest is ludicrousness with clunky elements but it is stupidly entertaining. What the Fast were you expecting?"

Liam Crowley of ComicBook joined the chorus of praise for Momoa as well: "FastX is utterly ridiculous (I loved every second). Action sequences and one-liners left my face hurting from smiling so much. Momoa is hilarious. Ensemble rocks. Cinema? Please. Peak summer blockbuster? Hell yes. Built for a popcorn-filled big screen experience."

Some other early reactions are below:

Fast X brings back all your Fast & Furious favourites such as Michelle Rodriguez's Letty, Tyrese Gibson's Roman, Sung Kang's Han, Jordana Brewster's Mia and Nathalie Emmanuel's Ramsey.

Alongside Jason Momoa's Dante, newcomers to the franchise include Alan Ritchson as Aimes, Brie Larson as Tess, Daniela Melchior's Isabel and Rita Morena (yes, really) as Dom and Mia's Abuelita.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Fast X is one of the longest Fast & Furious movies to date at nearly 142 minutes long.

Don't expect everything to get wrapped up in this movie though as new director Louis Leterrier has previously teased that it ends on a cliffhanger.

"This one is big. You know, I don't want to oversell it, but what we're planning on the next one is just gigantic, in terms of action, scope and emotion. You will feel all the feels. Tears will roll," he explained.

Fast X is released in cinemas on May 19.
