When you discuss Black women in luxury, it won’t take long before you land on the brand Fe Noel. The Brooklyn-based womenswear brand has a plethora of chic, luxury finds meant for both everyday use and elevated vacation trips.
The Caribean brand’s owner, Felisha “Fe” Noel, uses her Grenadian heritage to build out her collection. Her focus is on building up and empowering women through clothes. “My inspiration stems from, of course, wanting to make women feel beautiful, but for me, fashion is a language. It’s a way to communicate who you are,” the designer told the CFDA in 2020.
What many appreciate about Fe’s journey is her transparency on the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. She told the CFDA, “My challenges, in the beginning, are the same ones I have right now: being able to run the business with the resources that I do have, and as I grow and become more well-known, the challenge grows as well. You begin to feel the pressure of putting out a good body of work and quality design, and that production can be very expensive.”
