Fans can't wait to get their hands on FIFA 20, which is set for release in a matter of days.

The latest instalment of the hugely popular franchise lands on UK consoles next week after months of build-up.

And fans of Ultimate Team have some even better news with the announcement that the FIFA Web App is set to launch today.

EA Sports has confirmed FUT Web will go live at some point this afternoon, with the FIFA 20 Companion App to follow shortly after.

So to keep you up to date, here's everything you need to know about the FIFA 20 Web App.

FIFA 20 Web App release date

The web app has been slated for release today, Wednesday September 18.

It is thought the app will go live at around 6pm this afternoon.

The FIFA 20 Companion App is expected to drop shortly afterwards.

Both apps are going live a day before the FIFA 20 EA Access and Origin Access trial begins, which is launching on PS4 and Xbox One.

This trial lets members play 10 hours worth of the new game ahead of its launch next week.

What is the FIFA 20 Web App?

The app allows FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) players to manage their team and trade with others FUT players when not at their console.

It's a useful tool ahead of the game's release next week, as it means FUT players can get a head start by trading in the transfer market and complete squad building challenges.

FUT Web is an online extension available on web browsers, while the Companion App will launch on iOS and Android.

A statement on the EA Sports website reads: "The FUT WEb App and other FIFA Web features are down for maintenance while we prepare for FIFA 20.

"The new web app launches on September 18th."

FIFA 20 release date

The full game will be released on September 27 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

What's new in FIFA 20?

Set-pieces

There has been a complete overhaul of the set-piece manual, which will come as a relief to those who failed to score much on FIFA 19.

Players can now pick a target by using the right analog stick - something that first appeared on FIFA 02 - and add curl, dip or extra power when taking a free-kick.

The new tool is designed to give gamers more options from free-kicks, with some complaining that it was too difficult to score directly in the previous game.

Improved attacking and dribbling

FIFA 20 will encourage more attacking play in the new game, meaning strikers will be more clinical in front of goal when one-on-one.

But the days of scoring 30-yard screamers on the volley may be over, with EA Sports determined to make the riskier and more audacious shots harder to execute and score from.

As part of the changes to the 1v1 battles, the new feature will allow more attacking opportunities to get past your opponent, whilst also giving defenders a wider range of skills to win the ball back.

With the defensive Artificial Intelligence scaled back, it will make it more challenging for players to defend.

Volta Football

This is the big one... the game-makers have found a way to combine football fans' love of the five-a-side game with their fondness for FIFA, introducing Volta Football, a mode that touches on themes from futsal and street football.

This is a very similar idea to FIFA Street, the arcade mode version that was first released in 2005.

With a variety of arenas and environments to play in - a cage in London, the rooftop of a Tokyo skyscraper - it brings together the other side of football that is so rarely seen in the mainstream.

You can play 3v3 with rush goalkeepers or five-a-side and for the street football aficionados, there is a professional futsal mode to explore.

Just like with any FIFA mode, customisation is key, and gamers can do all sorts when building their squad from creating their own avatar to assembling their own squad and playing online in the Volta League.

FIFA 20 player ratings

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi (94) just edges out Cristiano Ronaldo (93) for top spot, while cover stars Eden Hazard (91) and Virgil van Dijk (90) also score big in the top 10.

Real Madrid have the most players in the top 100, with 12 Bernabeu stars making the cut, while Manchester United have just two representatives.
