Finally, an easy way to reapply sunscreen without ruining your makeup

There’s one question that often leaves makeup-lovers stumped: how the heck do you reapply sunscreen throughout the day?

Most sun care products require reapplication every two hours. Yet, it’s recommended to wear sunscreen under makeup, not over. So figuring out what to do can be a little confusing. No matter what, when you’re in the heat, it’s still important to protect your skin from sun damage.

In The Know’s Lisa Azcona shares her secrets on how to reapply sunscreen without ruining your makeup.

“Applying sunscreen is super important. It protects your skin from the sun’s powerful UV rays,” Lisa explains. “Not to mention it helps prevent skin cancer and premature aging.”

This hack requires a beauty sponge with a flat surface and a lightweight facial sunscreen like the innisfree Daily UV Defense.

To kick off the simple hack, Lisa squeezes the sunscreen onto the back of her hand then dabs it with her beauty blender. Next, she applies it to her face.

“Test it beforehand to make sure it doesn’t leave any white residue on your skin,” she says. “Make sure you’re pressing the beauty blender instead of dragging it across your face.”

Lisa recommends focusing on different sections of your face at a time to ensure you’re carefully applying the sunscreen without distorting your makeup. While she opts to use a liquid sunscreen, other forms like powders and sprays can work great over makeup.

“I’d choose the one that is right for you depending on your skin type and how you’d like your makeup to look throughout the day. whether that be dewy or matte,” Lisa says.

Regardless of the formulation, the sunscreen should absorb into your skin the way it would sans makeup.
