Fincantieri to supply two offshore patrol vessels to Indonesia

MILANO (Reuters) - Italy's Fincantieri said on Thursday it had signed a 1.18 billion euro ($1.27 billion) contract with Indonesia's defence ministry to supply two offshore patrol vessels.

The shipbuilder company will act as prime contractor and will coordinate with other industrial partners, including defence group Leonardo, which will customise the combat systems and the logistics services of the two ships, originally intended for the Italian navy.

The deal could lead to further operational, industrial and technological cooperation between the Italy and Indonesia, Fincantieri said in a statement.
