First Apple watches to reach customers

LONDON (ShareCast) - Apple (NasdaqGS: AAPL - news) began to ship its Apple Watch on Friday to customers who had pre-ordered the product on 10 April. Although the company did not reveal how many watches were pre-ordered, technology consultancy Slice Intelligence echoed last week that the firm got 957,000 online requests in its first day of US pre-orders.

The product reached customers seven months later its launch was announced, and a month later than expected .

Although watches will be available at the stores to be tried by customers, they will only be available to order online. The company did even mention that there will be no watches to buy during the month of May.

However, some fashion boutiques like the Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, The Corner boutique in Berlin, or Maxfield in Los Angeles prepared to launch the device in-store on Friday. Nevertheless, the Apple Watch Edition in gold is reportedly sold out in London.

Apple is expected to report its Q2 earnings after the market close on Monday.
