IKEA has joined forces with LEGO for the highly-anticipated BYGGLEK collection, with prices starting from £10.
Launching in stores and online from Thursday 1st October, the range consists of storage boxes with LEGO studs and a special LEGO brick set, aimed at increasing the opportunity for more play at home.
With children often asked to put away their toys after playing, the limited-edition pieces provide fun storage solutions that are just as playable as they are functional. Children can get creative with the LEGO pieces and pop them straight back in the storage boxes afterwards, keeping everyone at home happy.
The boxes also have LEGO studs on the top and front giving children the chance to integrate the boxes as part of their builds.
Swedish furniture retailer IKEA first teased the LEGO collaboration back in June 2018, but now we finally get to see what's in store.
'At IKEA, we always believe in the power of play. Play lets us explore, experiment, dream and discover,' says Andreas Fredriksson, designer at IKEA of Sweden. 'Where adults often see mess, children see a stimulating creative environment, and BYGGLEK will help bridge the gap between these two views to ensure more creative play in homes around the world.
'Plus, the BYGGLEK collection match perfectly with other IKEA products, making it possible to have your children's creativity becoming a nice and unique piece of decoration at home.'
Rasmus Buch Løgstrup, designer at the LEGO Group, described the collection as more than boxes but 'storage and play intertwined', explaining: 'It’s a possibility to play, display the cool creations and return to it to replay, remake, recreate or start over.'
The BYGGLEK collection will be available to purchase in IKEA stores and online from Monday 1st October.
