How To Fix Safari On iPhone After Crash

Users are still reporting issues with Apple (LSE: 0R2V.L - news) 's Safari (Other OTC: SFRI - news) browser - a day after the firm said it was fixed.

The default Apple browser crashed for users around the world on Wednesday, and by the afternoon the company said it had solved the problem.

It (Other OTC: ITGL - news) said it would take some users a couple of hours to see the issue - which saw the browser crashing every time the address bar was tapped - resolved.

But half a day later, countless people say they are still unable to use the app.

It has forced some to switch to alternative browsers - Google's Chrome app has shot up to second position on the UK free app chart.

The error occurred on mobile and desktop Apple devices regardless of whether users are on the most recent software or not, suggesting the problem was occurring at Apple's data centre.

If you are still being kicked out of the app, try these tips to fix it:

:: Clear cached data on your phone

Go to settings, then Safari, and hit 'clear history and website data'.

:: Turn off search suggestions

By going into Safari settings and turning off auto-complete suggestions, some users have reported that the problem is resolved.

:: Go private

Opening a private browsing window in Safari, instead of using the main window, has resolved the problem for some users.

:: Find an alternative

There are number of other browsers available to download on the App Store - the most popular free one being Google Chrome.
