Alligators wandering onto golf courses is not a new phenomenon, but one particular alligator in Palmetto, Florida, may take the cake for creating the biggest reptilian spectacle on a course in recent memory.

Last week, a Florida golfer named Charles Helms was golfing at Buffalo Creek Golf Course when an enormous gator took a stroll onto the green.

Helms and a fellow golfer caught video of the massive alligator casually walking by. Reports have estimated that it may be 15 feet long.

Helms told ABC Action News that he didn't think it was real at first.

"I was stunned and silent. ... I didn't know if we were being punked or something. It was just laying down, resting, when it got up and started moving towards the big lake."

An employee at the course told News3LV in Las Vegas that the gator has been around the course for years and become something of an attraction for golfers.
