Fox News contributor and former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry announced on Thursday that she has a brain tumor.

She made the announcement on Twitter.

Prior to Thursday’s announcement, McHenry had kept her followers updated with news that she was undergoing medical testing.

On Tuesday, she used her case as encouragement to her followers to seek preventative and diagnostic medical care.

McHenry’s transition from sports to politics

McHenry spent three years at ESPN from 2014-17 as a reporter making regular contributions to “SportsCenter,” “NFL Live” and “Baseball Tonight.”

In 2017, McHenry was part of a round of mass layoffs at ESPN. From there, she leaned into her political beliefs, translating them into a job as a conservative pundit on Fox Nation, a streaming wing of the Fox News network.

She also hosts a show on WTTG Fox 5 in Washington, D.C.

In December, she sued Fox News, claiming the network failed to respond to her multiple accusations that former co-host George Murdoch sexually harassed her.

McHenry’s note that “surgery is imminent” is her latest update as of the time of this post. The specifics of her diagnosis and prognosis are unclear.
